This early Victorian set hair bracelet from the 1840’s is breathtaking and exceptionally rare, especially in this condition. The 15 bright turquoise cabochons in three clustered rows, seem to coil themselves around the clasp, creating a beautiful contrast between the smooth cabochons and the cast filigree ornamentation. The main loop of the bracelet is made of a spring encased within a delicate tube of antique woven hair, making the main body of the bracelet quite flexible. Capped on both ends by tapered 18ct gold tips, these caps, casted with crisp floral and scroll form filigree work, create the most striking ornamental feature of this piece of wearable art. To put on the bracelet, the wearer slides one of the caps out of the coil of cabochons, creating an opening large enough to slip the piece on. The strong spring then, anchored by the chain connecting the two gold caps, slides snugly back into place. Soft yet striking, this bracelet is destined to be the crowning early victorian jewel of your collection.
