Stunning Late 19th Century Dutch Green Agate Intaglio Ring

Sale price Price $2,550.00 Regular price

A superb dutch finger ring in the Georgian manner, this beautiful Neoclassical Revival jewel features a sweet green agate intaglio. Carved into the agate is a delicate moth, likely a romantic representation of Psyche in her Paraphyletic form.

Psyche, the lover of Cupid, is often featured in neoclassical works as an allegory of the follies enjoyed by beauty for beauty’s sake- but a symbol of everlasting love, in her devotion to Cupid, whom she would go on to marry.

The ring features a halo of rose cut diamonds set into sterling. The band and construction is in 18ct with triple split shoulders.
