The Georgian era takes its name from four of the five kings that ruled during the period: George I, II, III, and IV. It was a period of vast change, exemplified by the early stages of the industrial revolution and the formation of the United States of America.

It was also a period during which there were significant developments in jewelry and marked the beginning of many mass-production methods. The jewelry of this era was innovative and distinctive.

A magnificent Maltese amethyst and diamond paste cross circa 1780, this beautiful example is crafted in 15k and sterling. In superb condition for its age, the color is outstanding on the foils of the stones. Currently a brooch but wearable as a pendant, or can be converted as desired.
