Gorgeous 15k Victorian Diamond Brooch
Victorian jewelry is as complex in its symbolism, sentiment, and design as the fashion, architecture, and decor of the time. Worn as an ornament, a love token, or a remembrance, jewelry not only completed the well-dressed lady’s costume but also denoted her position in society, her marital status, and her sense of self.
Often seen in Victorian and Edwardian pieces, the ivy leaf symbolizes everlasting love, immortality, and fidelity; and, once you understand the ivy plant it is easy to see why.
A strong plant that grows towards heaven, ivy forms almost inseparable bonds with the structure it chooses to cling to, both helping the other grow and reach the divine: a perfect metaphor for strong marriage.
This gorgeous brooch features rose-cut diamonds inset delicately with Etruscan revival details. This brooch visually intersects two of Elle's favorite themes in Victorian jewels; ivy leaves, radiating beautifully from twinkling diamond stars that form the epicenter of the medallion.
