Extra Long Vintage Snake Chain in Sterling Silver
The end of the WWI heralded a revolt against the excesses of the Edwardian and Belle Epoque eras. The Great War had ravaged European cultural centers, women had stepped in to fill industrial roles left vacant by men called to the front, and the wealth of the nobility had been severely dented. In this rapid-changing environment, the Art Deco design movement emerged.
The jewelry designers of the Art Deco period embraced modernism and the advances in technological innovation and machinery. A new genre of design was born – bold, geometric shapes with clean lines and symmetry, providing a more industrial feel.
While a departure from our Victorian theme for the day, this sumptuous snake chain is 10.8g and measures out to 30". Circa 1930 and stunning, the chain boasts a delightful C clasp.
