Sale price Price $5,695.00 Regular price $6,750.00

Etruscan revival jewelry is jewelry that was modeled after the ancient Roman empire, specifically the Etruscan civilization of ancient Italy in Tuscany, western Umbria, and northern Lazio (700-300 BC).

The interest in Etruscan revival jewelry began during the 18th-century Georgian period when the ruins of Pompeii (1748) and Herculaneum (1738) were discovered. Yet, the actual Etruscan revival pieces were not created until a century later when jewelry-making techniques had become sophisticated.

The stylistic hallmarks of Etruscan revival pieces include cannetille, shell elements, micro-mosaic, ornate goldwork, filigree gold scaffolds, and the Greek key design. With a large c-clasp and lovely drops reminiscent of amphorae (tall ancient Greek or Roman jars with pointed bottoms used for storage, transportation of wine, olive oil, and grains, or later as decoration/jewelry), this collar is not only decidedly chic but is sensual to the touch.
