The navette is surely one of the most elegant ring shapes.  When shown as a diamond, the navette is cut as pointed oval whose corners light up with a thousand shards of light. It is also called the "Marquise" cut in honor of the refined Madame de Pompadour. The legend says that the navette cut was first commissioned by Louis XV, who wanted his craftsmen to make a jewel recalling Madame de Pompadour’s luscious lips.

After gazing at many portraits of the Marquise’s lips, this gorgeous ring was born, to appreciate her Cupid’s bow, and the orderly nature of her brilliant mind and artist’s hand. The Marquise was a somewhat prolific charcoal artist, and an extremely proficient arts minister for the country of France in the 18th c.

This Curio Original gem features three custom-cut diamonds, with the top and bottom boasting O-P color modified fancy trillions. The central emerald cut diamond glimmers, graded a warm champagne W-X range Diamond by GIA, with a clarity grade of I-1. The cert of the emerald-cut center diamond provided with this purchase.
