A jabot pin is a brooch with a bejeweled motif at either end. It is pinned in such a way that only the decorative ends are seen, allowing the fabric to show in between. Circa mid-seventeenth century, jabot pins were used to secure the ruffled or lace piece of fabric (the jabot) that men wore on the front of their shirts.

Religion was an important part of Victorian life, and cross-centered jewelry made from materials such as metal, hair, and gemstones were common. Gorgeous caned detail all the way down the shaft of the handle in this special example.

This stunning pin also features lapis finials. Lapis lazuli has been known to represent strength and courage, royalty and wisdom, intellect and truth.
